Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop May 2021

Hello everyone! I'm so proud of myself. I was able to find the time to finish my layout for this month's theme challenge. Much like a popsicle, the month of May is quickly melting away. This month is always a busy time of year for my family. The school year is coming to an end, my daughter's birthday is fast approaching, volleyball season is officially over, award assemblies are taking place...the list goes on and on.

I have to admit my mind was racing with SO many ideas for this month's design challenge! I had a hard time picking one. Usually, I like to design my pages first and then add pictures later. For this blog hop, I decided to do the opposite. I dug through several years worth of photos and found the photo you see below of my daughter when she was a toddler. The popsicles on her Gymboree shirt reminded me of the the April 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit-So Cool. I thought the two of them matched perfectly and so the design began. I hope you find a little design inspiration that will "melt your heart" with this fun scrapbook page I created.

Credit goes to Delys Cram for this month's theme challenge. Thanks!

Like I mentioned above, the page I created uses elements from the April 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit. The great thing about this month's kit is that it coordinates perfectly with the Ice Cream Corner Suite found on page 48 & 49 of the Mini Catalog. I also have a surprise for you. Can you guess which DSP I used from the new Annual Catalog? Be sure to read further to find out which one.

Here's how I created my DIY background.

I love the rainbow design I found inside the kits envelopes. This got my wheels turning.

Next, I tore the envelope entirely open. I trimmed off all the edges using the crease as my cut line. Once, finished, you end up with a large rectangle shown below.

Using my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, I cut eight strips from the envelope using the thin rectangle stitched die from the Suit & Tie Dies.

Once complete, you will glue all eight strips around the edge of a piece of 12" x 12" Polished Pink cardstock base. I made sure to leave approximately 1/4" from all four sides.

For the next layer, I cut a 9-3/4" x 9-3/4" (popsicle design) from the coordinating Ice Cream Corner DSP. Glue this layer down focusing on the center of the page.

The large popsicle elements are from the So Cool Paper Pumpkin Kit. They look "YUMMY" enough to eat. The kiwi design is my favorite!

The popsicles actually come as a card that you can open and shut along with a fold down the middle. I cut the blank portion off using the folded crease as my guide.

Time for the DSP reveal! Did you guess correctly? The polka dot pattern is actually from the You're a Peach DSP. This layer was cut 4" x 4". I then layered it on a piece of 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" Pale Papaya cardstock. You will need to cut a total of three. Using 1/4" as a guide, adhere all three of the layers down to the center of the page. Don't worry if you end up with a large space in the middle. It will get covered up with the photo layer.

The 4" x 6" photo was trimmed down to 4" x 4" in size. I then layered it on a 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Basic White Cardstock. Trim another envelope down to 4-1/2" x 4-1/2". Layer the Basic White cardstock on to the rainbow envelope. Before you adhere this layer and the popsicle elements to the page, you will need to wrap a piece of Polka Dot Ribbon around the entire base and tie a bow. Be sure to trim off any excess ribbon from both ends. You are now ready to adhere the photo layer & popsicle elements to the page.

I fell in love with the "You Melt My Heart" sentiment from the Sweet Ice Cream Stamp Set. I thought it was perfect for this page! I stamped it in Bermuda Bay Ink on Bermuda Bay cardstock. I used several retired die cut shapes & punches to create this fun page element. I fussy cut the popsicle from one of the patterns of the Ice Cream Corner DSP. The popsicle stick was stamped in Soft Suede ink (inside) and Early Espresso (outside). I also had to fussy cut the stick.

I hope you enjoy the page I created and it helps get you excited for Summer!
