I rarely get the chance to complete a kit before the launch month expires. This is largely due to the fact that my kit doesn't arrive until the end of the month. However, I never complete the kit exactly the way as it's advertised. I like to think "outside the box" and put my own spin on alternate card ideas. This can be as simple as adding a few basic cardstock layers, creating a 3D project, or a fun scrapbook layout. Today, I want to share with you an alternative card idea.
For today's Case-ing Tuesday Sketch Challenge we are focusing on page 27 of the Annual Catalog. I added an additional layer of cardstock and used a die cut for the center instead of the 2" x 2-1/2" cardstock layer mentioned above.
I started with one of the card bases as you see above.
Next, I cut the card base in half (along the score line).
I carefully measured the top and bottom of the imagery side and trimmed it down to 2-1/2" x 5-1/2".
Top portion measures: 1-1/2" x 5-1/2"
Bottom portion measures: 1/4" x 5-1/2"
For the next step, I dry embossed a 4" x 5-1/2" layer of cardstock in Copper Clay using one of the folders found in the Basics 3D Embossing Folders. Adhere this layer to the center of the Boho Blue card base.
Before you apply the imagery layer to the card base, apply a small amount of Stampin' Seal adhesive on the back. Gently wrap the linen thread (provided with the kit) around the layer as shown. Once complete, adhere this layer on top of the embossed layer.
The tag die cut was an element that was found in the kit. I stamped the greeting (another great stamp set found in this month's kit) using the Stampin' Spot Copper Clay ink on the die cut and adhered to the center of the card using dimensionals.
That's it! A simple card that's perfect for any nature enthusiast.
