CASE-ING TUESDAY #344 - CATCHING BUTTERFLIES SALE-A-BRATION STAMP SET
It's time for another CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch Challenge!
My card today features a Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set called Catching Butterflies. I've had this one sitting on my shelf and was waiting for the ideal time to use it! I'm so glad I waited. I think today's sketch challenge was PERFECT! I also got to use the new Skin Tone Light Stampin' Blends Combo Pack on my card.
You have less than a week to earn this fun stamp for FREE with any $50 Stampin' Up! purchase (before tax & shipping).
The example card we are CASE-ing can be found on page 30 of the Spring Mini Catalog. It features the Flowering Rain Boots Bundle.
Here are the card measurements for this week. I added an additional 3" x 4" layer to my card. I also chose a different shape for my sentiment.
Watercoloring can be so FASCINATING! I love how you will never get the same results twice. The key to water coloring is using the right kind of paper. Stampin' Up! sells Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. It is a thick paper with subtle texture that is cold-pressed archival cotton paper.
Here's how to create a fun and easy watercolor background:
- Fill a Stampin' Spritzer with water.
- Lightly spritz the 3-1/2" X 5" Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper paper with water. Don't worry if you get too much water or if it "pools" in certain areas.
- Add a several drops of Blushing Bride Ink directly from the refill bottle randomly on the paper.
- Grab a hair dyer or heat tool and gently start to blow the ink & water across the paper front.
- Set paper aside to dry.
Once the layer has dried, attach it to a Blushing Bride card base folded in half.
I stamped the butterflies and the girl in Memento Black Ink on a 3" x 4" Basic White cardstock layer. I colored the images in using various colors of Stampin' Blends.
- Light & Dark Mango Melody (hair & butterflies)
- Light & Dark Flirty Flamingo (dress & butterflies)
- Light Combo Pack (skin & butterflies)
- Light Smoky Slate (Net)
- Light Pale Papaya (Butterflies)
Here's a close-up of the shimmer effect. I also stamped the grass image twice in Pear Pizzazz Ink. Attach the Basic White cardstock layer to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I thought this sentiment was so fitting to capture the essence of the card. I used the second smallest Layering Circle Dies to cut the scallop circle in Blushing Bride. Attach the sentiment to the card base using dimensionals. I added a tiny bow to the net handle to finish the look.
Now it's your turn! Create your take on this week's sample and be sure to share it on the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group using #caseingtuesday342.
