CASE-ING TUESDAY #325 - NUTS ABOUT SQUIRRELS 🐿️

Happy Fall Y'all! Welcome back to another CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch Challenge. I am in full craft fair mode starting this month so I will need to keep my blog post brief! Time is of the essence right now. I have three shows coming up in November and December.

Here is the card I created for this week's challenge. I have had my eye on the Nuts About Squirrels Stamp Set for quite awhile. Probably because squirrels are always so playful, cheerful, and fun! However, my dog Ginger wouldn't agree. She always loved to chase them along our fence line at the old house. To her they were a HUGE nuisance. LOL!

The card we are CASE'D is from the Holiday Mini Catalog and can be found on page 28.

Here are the measurements in case you would like to join us. I mixed mine up a bit this week and added some additional layers along with a circle die cut element.

I started with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Soft Suede cardstock scored at 5-1/2" and folded in half. Next, I added a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" Bumblebee cardstock layer. I selected two different patterns from the Beauty of the Earth 12" x 12" DSP. I cut the leaf pattern exactly like the top measurement posted above. I cut the woodgrain pattern 2-1/4" x 4-1/4" instead of the 2-1/4" x 4" listed above. I wanted the bottom to line up with sides of the Bumblebee layer. To get the curve on the DSP, I die cut it using one of the Basic Border Dies.

I die cut the second largest scallop circle from the Layering Circle Dies in Bumblebee cardstock. I stamped the branch in Early Espresso Ink and stamped the leaves on the end in Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, and Bumblebee Ink. I stamped the inside of the leaves using Early Espresso Ink. Next, I die cut the images out using the second largest Layering Circle Die. I attached this layer to the card base using dimensionals.

For the adorable squirrel, I stamped the outer image in Memento Black Ink and stamped the inside of the body using Cinnamon Cider Ink. It may take you several tries to line the stamped images up perfectly, but it's well worth it in the end! I fussy cut the critter out by hand using my paper snips. I attached the squirrel to the card base using dimensionals.

I tied a bow using White Baker's Twine and trimmed off any excess from the ends. I attached the bow to the card base using a single Glue Dot. Next, I die cut the leaves using the Beautiful Leaves Dies using the new Gold 12" x 12" Shimmer Vellum. This is actually one large die, but I trimmed some of the leaves off and tucked them under the die cut using glue dots.

Using the same Basic Borders Dies, I die cut a piece of 1-1/2" x 2-14" Basic White Cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso Ink and attached it to the bottom of the card base using several dimensionals.
