Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop August 2021

Welcome! I know what you are thinking ... Christmas already? Yep! I like to get started on Holiday projects as soon as the Holiday Catalog comes out. It's always my favorite catalog. We took this family photo last year on my parents front porch during Christmas Eve. The words found on the sentiment speak true to those trying times we endured during the early stages of the Pandemic. Christmas 2020 will always be one my family remembers and scraping allows me to memorialize that feeling.

Our hop theme this month is Let's Strip. We could use strips of designer series paper to create part of our layout. Have you ever purchased a package of paper and thought 'I love every design'? That's happened to me on several occasions. Sometimes I hesitate cutting it up because I love it so much. This paper was one of those. The Christmas designs found in the Painted Christmas 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper are all GORGEOUS! I knew I couldn't use just one so I tried to use them all!

I started with 12" x 12" Cherry Cobbler cardstock for my base.

Did you know? All of Stampin' Up!'s pattern paper also known as DSP (Designer Series Paper) comes double-sided. This definitely worked in my favor for our theme challenge this month! I took a single sheet from five of the designs and cut 1" strips. This left me with a total of ten strips. I laid them on the base until I found a pattern that caught my eye.

HELPFUL TIP FOR GETTING THE STRIPS TO LINE UP STRAIGHT: I lined each of the strips up on the base using my ruler as a guideline (shown above). This made it easy to glue the strips evenly down. I left 1" from both the top and the bottom of the base.

If you're looking for the perfect backdrop for your seasonal greetings, you will love the Christmas Pine Dies. Pair these large background dies with Adhesive Strips and you instantly have crisp, elegant, die-cut images. I die cut the first evergreen layer in Soft Sea Foam. The second evergreen layer in Evening Evergreen. I die cut the pinecones in Soft Suede (bottom) and Early Espresso (top).

I matted my photo on a piece of 4" x 6" Basic White cardstock.

I embossed the sentiment in white using the Christmas To Remember Stamp Set on a scrap piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. I die cut the sentiment using one of the labels from the Seasonal Labels Dies. Next, I die cut a seasonal label and layered it underneath in Shaded Spruce cardstock.

I stamped each of the leaves separately using Evening Evergreen Ink & Soft Sea Foam Ink on Basic White cardstock. I stamped the stem in Early Espresso Ink and berries in Cherry Cobbler Ink on Basic White Cardstock. I die cut all the images using the coordinating dies from the same set.

To finish it off, I attached several Gold Holly Leaves to the sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed the page I created today!

Beautiful Christmas layout, RaeJean! The mix of patterns is beautiful and the bits you've used to frame the photo give it a classic look.
