CASE-ING TUESDAY #319 - PENGUIN PLACE

Welcome back! Can you believe today is the last day of August? It's been extremely HOT here in Colorado. We have had smoke, haze, and very dry conditions. This fun polar bear has me thinking of cooler temperatures.

Here is the card I created for this week's sketch challenge. I have been eyeing the Layering Diorama Dies in my craft stash and decided to give them a try. I turned them into an iceberg for my Polar Bear to "chill" on!

This is the card we will CASE (Copy And Share Everything). It is featured on page 3 from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.

As always, here is a look at the measurements we will be following. You can copy the measurements exactly or alter them just a bit. The choice is totally up to you!

I started with a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece of Just Jade cardstock scored at 4-1/4" and folded in half.

Have you ever heard of tone-on-tone stamping? That's what took place here. I used the snowflake stamp from the Penguin Place Stamp Set and stamped the border in Just Jade Ink on the Just Jade card base. Hence the term tone on tone or same colors. You can use this technique to create interesting backgrounds and add depth to your projects.

As you can see here, I stamped an additional row on the left hand side of the card base. This is what the card base will look like once you have finished.

I followed the first measurement posted above and cut a piece of DSP 4-1/2" x 3-1/2". I adhered this layer to the card base. Next, I selected the polka dot pattern from the same DSP pack and used the largest Stitched So Sweetly Scallop Rectangle Die. I adhered the die cut to the card base exactly like the picture. Don't forget! You can still earn this adorable Penguin Playmates 12" x 12" DSP FREE with any Stampin' Up! purchase of $50.

I cut one Layering Diorama Die using Basic White cardstock. I cut the next size down using Misty Moonlight cardstock. I adhered the Misty Moonlight die cut to the Basic White die cut using dimensionals. I fussy cut the Polar Bear from the Penguin Playmates 12" x 12" DSP. I attached the polar bear to the card base using dimensionals.

I die cut (4) Vellum Snowflakes from the Stitches Snowflakes Dies. I attached them to the card base using Glue Dots in the center. I placed a sequin from the Expressions in Ink Ephemera Pack on each of the snowflakes.

Here's another look at the snowflakes. Isn't the stitching cool? It adds such a fun detail.

I stamped the sentiment in Misty Moonlight Ink on Basic White Cardstock. I die cut the image out using the Messages Die. I trimmed one end off and attached it to the card base using dimensionals. I adhered the bow using a Glue Dot and trimmed off any excess off the ends.

Now it's your turn! Create your take on this week's sample and be sure to share it on the CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group using #caseingtuesday319.
