CASE-ing Tuesday #583 — Thinking of You 🌻

Welcome to CASE-ing Tuesday #583! This week’s card is all about texture, layers, and letting the beautiful details of your paper do the work.

For this card, I used Two-Tone Cardstock to create a fun tearing technique that reveals the white core of the cardstock. I love how the torn edges add a rustic, handcrafted feel while creating contrast against the darker background.

A second focal point is the beautiful copper sunflower print from the Radiant Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. Die-cutting the sunflower print turns that gorgeous foil into a statement element that coordinates beautifully with the sunflower-themed Designer Series Paper.

✂️ How to Recreate the Card

1. Create the card base

Start with your card base and add a layer of Two-Tone Cardstock. The darker side of the cardstock creates a wonderful backdrop for the rest of the design.

2. Add the torn-paper technique

Tear strips of Two-Tone Cardstock along the top and bottom edges of your focal Designer Series Paper. Rather than cutting the paper, gently tear it to expose the white core underneath.

This is what gives the card those beautiful distressed white edges!

3. Add the Designer Series Paper

Adhere your floral Designer Series Paper between the torn cardstock strips. The combination of the printed paper, torn edges, and darker cardstock creates lots of visual texture.

4. Create the sunflower focal point

Take a piece of the Radiant Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper, choosing the beautiful copper sunflower print. Use your coordinating die to cut out the sunflower image.

The copper foil catches the light and immediately draws your eye toward the center of the card.

5. Build the floral arrangement

Layer your die-cut flowers and leaves around the sunflower focal point. Add dimension by popping some of the pieces up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

6. Create the sentiment

Stamp “Thinking of You” onto a light-colored banner. Die cut the banner and add it across the lower portion of the card, allowing it to overlap the floral arrangement slightly.

7. Add the finishing touches

Finish the card with a few embellishments in coordinating colors. A little bit of sparkle helps tie everything together without taking attention away from the beautiful copper sunflower.

🌻 Why I Love This Card

The Two-Tone Cardstock tearing technique is such an easy way to add interest to a card. Instead of hiding the white core, we're intentionally using it as part of the design!

And that copper sunflower from the Radiant Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper is definitely the star of the show. It adds a touch of shine and creates a beautiful focal point without needing a lot of additional embellishment.

This is a great reminder that sometimes the paper itself can be the embellishment!
