CASE-ing Tuesday #582: Painted Pumpkins 🍂🎃

A Fun Fall Card Featuring the Painted Pumpkins Bundle

Welcome to another CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch Challenge! This week I’m playing along with Sketch #582, inspired by the sample featured on page 27 of the September–December 2026 Stampin’ Up! Catalog.

I love taking a sketch and making it my own, and this week’s sketch was perfect for showcasing the brand-new Painted Pumpkins Bundle and the gorgeous Painted Patch 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper. The Painted Pumpkins Bundle includes coordinating stamps, dies, and decorative masks, making it easy to create layered fall projects.

The Painted Patch DSP is filled with painted pumpkins, gourds, leaves, and coordinating patterns in a beautiful fall-inspired color palette.

🍁 My CASE-ing Tuesday Card

For my version of Sketch #582, I chose a soft Pool Party card base paired with the rich Secret Sea ink and the beautiful Painted Patch Designer Series Paper.

I also used Golden Glow, Calypso Coral, and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends to add color to my stamped pumpkins. I love how these colors pull directly from the DSP and give the pumpkins a fun, unexpected look!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies Used

  • Painted Pumpkins Bundle

  • Painted Patch 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper

  • Nested Essentials Dies – banner die

  • Pool Party Cardstock

  • Basic White Cardstock

  • Secret Sea Ink

  • Secret Sea Classic Stampin’ Ink

  • Golden Glow Stampin’ Blends

  • Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends

  • Pool Party Stampin’ Blends

  • Stampin’ Seal

  • Stampin’ Dimensionals

  • Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

✂️ Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Create the card base

Start with a piece of Pool Party Cardstock measuring 5-1/2" x 8-1/2".

Score it at 4-1/4" and fold along the score line. Use a Bone Folder to create a crisp fold.

2. Add the Designer Series Paper

Cut a piece of the Painted Patch Designer Series Paper to fit the front of your card.

I chose the coordinating plaid pattern to create a beautiful fall background.

Adhere the DSP to the card front using Stampin’ Seal.

3. Create the focal layer

Cut a piece of Basic White Cardstock for the center focal area.

Using the Nested Essentials Dies, die-cut the banner shape from Basic White Cardstock. This creates the fun notched-bottom layer shown in the sketch.

4. Stamp your pumpkins

Using the Painted Pumpkins Stamp Set, stamp the pumpkin images onto Basic White Cardstock with Secret Sea Classic Ink.

The Painted Pumpkins stamp set is a two-step set, so you can layer images to create additional detail and dimension.

5. Color the pumpkins

Now comes the fun part!

Color the stamped pumpkins using:

  • Golden Glow Stampin’ Blends

  • Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends

  • Pool Party Stampin’ Blends

I love using nontraditional pumpkin colors, especially when they coordinate so beautifully with the Designer Series Paper.

6. Die-cut the pumpkins

Once your pumpkins are colored, use the coordinating Painted Pumpkins Dies to cut them out.

Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to some of the pumpkins so they have different levels of dimension when arranged on the card.

7. Assemble the focal point

Add Calypso Coral with Copper Border 3/8" Ribbon to the underside of the Basic White banner. Layer the Basic White banner onto the card front.

Arrange your colored pumpkins on the banner, overlapping a few of the pieces to create a dimensional arrangement.

Adhere some pumpkins directly to the banner and pop others up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

8. Add the sentiment

Stamp your chosen sentiment from the Painted Pumpkins Stamp Set in Secret Sea Classic Ink.

Trim or die-cut the sentiment as desired and add it to the card front.

9. Finish the inside

For the inside of the card, add a small strip of the coordinating Painted Patch Designer Series Paper along the bottom or side.

Stamp another sentiment or a small pumpkin image in Secret Sea to carry the design through to the inside.

🎃 Why I Love This Sketch

One of my favorite things about CASE-ing a sketch is that you don't have to copy the sample exactly. The sketch gives you a starting point, and then you can change the colors, papers, stamps and embellishments to create something that's completely your own.

The combination of Pool Party + Secret Sea + Golden Glow + Calypso Coral gives this card a fresh fall feel without relying on traditional orange pumpkins.

And the Painted Pumpkins Bundle makes creating those layered pumpkin images so much fun! The coordinating dies make cutting out the stamped images quick and easy.
