CASE-ING TUESDAY #578: So Grateful for You πŸŒΏπŸ’œ

CASE-ing a Sketch Your Own Way

CASE-ing—Copy And Share Everything—doesn't mean your card has to look exactly like the original inspiration.

A sketch is simply a jumping-off point!

For CASE-ing Tuesday #578, I kept the important elements of the sketch—the circular focal point, horizontal layers, and centered sentiment—but made the card completely my own with the Lily of the Valley images, Valley in Bloom products, botanical colors, and added texture.

That's one of my favorite things about sketch challenges. You can start with the same layout and end up with something that looks completely different!

There’s something I love about a good sketch challenge—it gives you a starting point without taking away the fun of making the design your own! Today I’m sharing my card inspired by CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch Challenge #578, featuring the beautiful Lily of the Valley Bundle from Stampin’ Up!

For this card, I took the basic elements of the sketch and gave them my own soft, botanical twist using the Valley in Bloom Suite Collection. The result is a delicate card filled with texture, layers, and those sweet little Lily of the Valley blossoms.

The Valley in Bloom Suite Collection is perfect for creating projects inspired by nature. The coordinating products make it easy to mix patterns, textures, stamped images, and embellishments while maintaining a beautifully cohesive look. Stampin’ Up! currently lists both the Valley in Bloom Suite Collection and Lily of the Valley Bundle in its product lineup.

✂️ Let's Make the Card!

Step 1: Prepare the Card Base

Start with a standard A2 card base in Garden Green.

For the background, use a piece of the beautiful Luxe White 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper. The subtle botanical pattern provides just enough interest without competing with the focal point of the card.

Adhere the Specialty Designer Series Paper to the card front.

Step 2: Create the Circle Focal Point

Using a circle die, cut a large circle from Valley in Bloom 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper.

Add a stitched or pierced detail around the edge of the circle if desired. This little bit of texture helps define the focal area. I used the Stylish Stitched Shapes Circles to create the focal point.

Layer the circle onto a slightly larger circle cut from the Blackberry Bliss cardstock.

The deep Blackberry Bliss adds a beautiful contrast to the soft botanical colors.

Step 3: Add the Floral Scene

Now comes the fun part!

Using the Lily of the Valley Bundle, stamp the delicate Lily of the Valley image using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and color them with your favorite coloring tools. I used Stampin' Blends in Blackberry Bliss.

For the foliage, bring in Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist. The soft green leaves beautifully complement the tiny blossoms and help create the feeling of a spring garden.

Once colored, use the coordinating dies from the Lily of the Valley Bundle to cut out the images. The dies make it easy to create dimensional floral pieces without having to fussy-cut each image. The bundle includes the Lily of the Valley stamp set and coordinating dies.

Step 4: Build the Horizontal Layers

The CASE-ing Tuesday sketch features a strong horizontal element across the card.

To recreate that look, cut a strip of Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper and layer it across the card front.

Add another strip of Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper layering it over the patterned paper.

For a little more interest, create a banner or flag on the right side of the strip by cutting a small V into the end.

Layer the strips across the lower portion of your floral circle.

Step 5: Add the Lily of the Valley

Arrange your colored Lily of the Valley images so that they peek above and around the horizontal layers.

Use Stampin' Dimensionals to raise some of the flowers.

I love this part because it gives the card a little "garden growing out of the layers" effect!

Tuck some of the foliage underneath the circle and allow a few of the flowers to extend beyond it. This creates depth and makes the focal point feel much more dimensional.

Step 6: Create the Sentiment

Stamp "So grateful for you" onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Blackberry Bliss ink.

Die cut the sentiment using a circle die that coordinates with the floral circle.

Layer the sentiment over the center of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The Blackberry Bliss sentiment ties the entire color palette together while keeping the greeting easy to read.

Step 7: Add Texture

To finish the card, add a few die-cut decorative elements around the sentiment.

The Basic Beige pieces add subtle texture without distracting from the flowers.

This is also a great opportunity to use a few scraps from your cardstock—those little leftover pieces can become beautiful embellishments!

Step 8: Finish with Embellishments

Finally, add a few coordinating embellishments around the card.

I used small touches of sparkle from the Shimmering Dots to bring the card to life while keeping the overall design soft and elegant.

Remember, when using embellishments, odd numbers often create a pleasing visual balance. Try placing three or five embellishments around your focal point rather than lining them up evenly.

🌿 The Color Combination

One of my favorite things about this card is the simple color palette:

πŸ’œ Blackberry Bliss – adds richness and creates a beautiful contrast.

🌿 Garden Green – brings the botanical images to life and reinforces the garden theme.

🀍 Basic Beige – softens the overall design and provides a beautiful neutral background.

Together, these colors create a look that feels both elegant and natural.

🌸 Final Thoughts

The Lily of the Valley Bundle is such a lovely choice for heartfelt cards. Those tiny bell-shaped flowers create an especially delicate look, and pairing them with the Valley in Bloom Suite Collection makes it easy to create a beautiful garden-inspired project.

And sometimes the simplest sentiment says exactly what we need to say:

So grateful for you. πŸ’œ

Thank you for stopping by and CASE-ing along with me!

Happy stamping!
