WE CREATE BLOG HOP - SWEET DEALS
Welcome to the We Create February Blog Hop! Have you ever wondered if you can heat emboss with regular Stampin' ink pads? The answer is YES-you can! I don't own red embossing powder so I had to get creative and use an alternative method to try and get the look of a juicy watermelon slice. It looks good enough to eat, right?!
The theme for the We Create Blog Hop is "Sweet Deals". If you are looking for some SWEET inspiration. I have a fun card for you today.
Did you know that we are at the half way point of Sale-A-Bration? The Watercolor Melon Stamp Set you can earn for FREE with any purchase of $50 or mire (before applicable tax & shipping). Better hurry! Items are while supplies last and Sale-A-Bration ends on February 29th.
I had so much fun heat embossing a few of the elements on this card. I look forward to sharing them with you.
Using the Sketched Plaid stamp set, I stamped the plaid background in Real Red ink on the front of a Real Red card base. Sometimes you find patterns of paper when you least expect it. At least that's the case when I stumbled upon the Fresh as Daisy 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper pack. The colors on this pattern match my watercolor theme perfectly. Next, I wrapped a piece of Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon around the Basic Black card stock.
I decided to add some extra details so I stamped the leaves in Old Olive ink on the Basic White card stock layer.
Want to know how I created the realistic look of the large watermelon's outer rind? I used a Small Blending Brush in Parakeet Party ink and gently applied color to the image after I stamped it in Garden Green ink.
I love it when Sale-A-Bration products coordinate with other current Stampin' Up! products. That's the case here. The Modern Oval Punch coordinates perfectly with this watermelon image.
Now it's time to learn how to emboss with any colored ink pad.
Follow these steps:
- Ink your stamp in VersaMark. DO NOT stamp. Only ink it.
- Then ink the stamp again in a regular Stampin' Pad. This will be right on top of the VersaMark.
- Stamp the image onto card stock and cover with Clear Embossing Powder.
- Heat with your heat tool!
That's it! Now you can create any image you want using heat embossing and colored ink pads!
