Old Friends Are the Best Friends – Featuring the Silly Old Friends Bundle

There’s something so heartwarming about the Silly Old Friends Bundle by Stampin’ Up! The sweet bear, buzzing bees, and adorable honey pot make it perfect for creating friendship cards that bring a smile to someone's face. For today's card, I wanted to create a soft and whimsical scene that highlights the charm of this lovable bundle while adding a few special techniques for extra interest and sparkle.

The focal point of the card features the sweet bear sitting beside his favorite pot of "hunny," colored with warm tones to give him that classic storybook feel. To create the honey-inspired background, I made my own custom honeycomb stencil using a piece of clear Window Sheet. Creating your own stencil is a fun way to stretch your crafting supplies and add unique details to your projects. After cutting the honeycomb design into the Window Sheet, I blended soft yellow inks through the stencil to create a subtle honeycomb pattern behind the bear.

To add dimension and visual interest, I layered the focal image over a soft blue circle and added a coordinating panel of designer paper. The warm ribbon accent ties the entire color palette together and adds a touch of elegance to the playful design.

One of my favorite details on this card is the honey pot. To give it a realistic sugary shine, I brushed on Golden Glow Shimmer Brush over the honey. The shimmer catches the light beautifully and creates the perfect golden sparkle, making the honey look sweet enough to scoop right off the card! A few tiny bee embellishments complete the scene and add movement around the focal image.

The sentiment, "Old friends are the best friends," perfectly complements the nostalgic feel of the Silly Old Friends Bundle. Whether you're sending a note to a lifelong friend or simply brightening someone's day, this bundle makes it easy to create heartfelt cards full of warmth and charm.
